Jackson Hole is home to three superb ski areas.
The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers over 2,500 acres of the best terrain and vertical drop in the West. Combined with an average of 459 inches of annual snow fall and an open backcountry policy, it is skiing at its best.
Grand Targhee is the mountain for powder. It averages over 500 inches annually, starts with a base at 8,000 feet and offers a mostly intermediate mountain with an incredible mountain backdrop.
The Snow King Resort is a smaller mountain located right in the Town of Jackson and a perfect way to spend a quick hour on the slopes. It is where the Jackson Hole Ski Club hosts many after-school and weekend training programs for youngsters.
Nordic skiing opportunities are just as plentiful. An intricate system of trails is groomed throughout Jackson Hole for skiing, snow-shoeing, hiking etc. Tour through Grand Teton National Park; walk your dogs along the levee of the Snake River; skate ski through Cache Creek National Forest. If you prefer, break your own trail through one of the many canyons that bisect the Tetons. It is an excellent way to enjoy the solitude of winter, the joy of exercise, the wonder of winter wildlife.
